Paynes Creek
Paynes Creek Campground, located on the Tugaloo River arm of Hartwell Lake in Georgia, offers 44 sites with water and 50-amp electric hookups, 37 of which are waterfront. Amenities include shower/restroom facilities, a dump station, playgrounds, swim beaches, and a boat ramp. The Corps of Engineers partnered with SORBA to create a 7.6-mile multi-purpose trail, extended by two miles in 2013, for mountain biking and hiking. The trail and one boat ramp are open year-round, while the campground and its amenities are open seasonally from May 1 to September 30.
Hartwell Lakeside KOA
Hartwell Lakeside KOA, situated on Lake Hartwell Reservoir, offers a prime location for swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking, and paddle boarding on one of the largest lakes in the U.S. The campground features scenic hiking and biking trails, beautiful lakefront RV and tent sites with electric and water hookups, and access to a campground beach, boat ramp, and courtesy docks. Visitors can also explore the charming downtown Hartwell, with its excellent restaurants, unique shops, and local attractions.
Watsadler
Watsadler Campground, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is open year-round. From December 1 to March 31, sites 1-23 are available, while all 51 sites, equipped with electric (50-amp) and water hookups, are open from April 1 to November 30. Located near Hartwell Dam, many sites offer waterfront views of the lake. Amenities include shower/restroom facilities, a dump station, playgrounds, a park attendant, and a boat ramp with a courtesy dock and security lighting.
